Bess believes that healing, insight, and growth take place within the context of a supportive, compassionate, and collaborative therapeutic relationship.  Bess customizes treatment to meet the unique needs of each client, utilizing an integrative and holistic orientation.  Bess incorporates a variety of theoretical techniques, with an emphasis on mindfulness based therapy.   Mindfulness, which means to see clearly, is a conscious approach to being in the present moment.  Expanded moment-to-moment awareness brings clarity of one’s surroundings, relationships, choices, habitual patterns, strengths and full potential.

Bess brings both personal experience and professional expertise to this area of her work, giving her a unique perspective.  After a life-long struggle of her own, and 3 sizes of clothing in her closet at all times, Bess made the decision never to diet again.  Bess began extensive training with Geneen Roth, best-selling author and expert in this field, which has continued for more than a decade.  Bess discovered that diets, not only cause compulsion with food, but rarely lead to lasting change.  Bess learned that diets fail to address the underlying emotional issues, while sending the message that we cannot trust ourselves.  Bess made peace with food and returned to her natural weight, losing 56 pounds.  Bess had the honor of being part of the audience for the taping of the Oprah Winfrey Show, featuring Geneen Roth, due to her own success story.  Bess is passionate about sharing her journey and helping others begin theirs.
